Beginner Band

 

The Beginner Band at North Richland Middle School is divided into specialized classes for the purpose of teaching the basic fundamentals of playing an instrument.  Classes include: Flute, 
Oboe/Bassoon, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, and Percussion.  Students will complete musical and rehearsal objectives in preparation for Concert and Honor Bands. The members of the Beginner Band perform at the Winter and Spring Richland Cluster Concerts, as well as compete at the Beach Within Reach Contest in May. Select members of the Beginner Band will also perform at the Birdville ISD Solo and Ensemble Contests.

 

 

Concert Band

 

The Concert Band at North Richland Middle School is an advanced 7th/8th grade band and considered the second performing ensemble.  Students perform at concerts and contests throughout the school year including the UIL Concert/Sightreading Contest and the Birdville ISD Solo and Ensemble Contest. Instrumentation is limited to students who show advanced performance abilities and superior attitudes.

 

 

 

Honors Band

 

The Honors Band at North Richland Middle School is an advanced 7th/8th grade band and considered the top performing ensemble.  Students perform at concerts and contests throughout the school year and participate in the All-District & All-Region audition processes as well as the Birdville ISD Solo and Ensemble Contests.  Instrumentation is limited to students who show advanced performance abilities and superior attitudes.  The Honors Band has a tradition of excellence throughout the state of Texas being named the TMEA CC Honor Band in 1999, under the direction of Melodianne Mallow and the Texas Bandmasters Association's Outstanding Middle School Band Program in 2009.
